Here at Tastebuds, we know how important it is that your Valentine’s Day goodies make it to their destination in time to make someone’s day extra special. So to keep things sweet (and stress-free), here’s a friendly guide on how to make sure your Valentine’s gifts arrive on time — with a handy breakdown of our delivery options and tips to help you plan like a pro.
Order Early (Seriously, So Early)
The golden rule for stress-free gifting? Place your order as EARLY as you can.
Love doesn’t always wait, and neither should you! A good rule of thumb is to get your Valentine’s Day order in well before the date you want it delivered. Because while we work hard to get gifts out on time, peak gifting days like Valentine’s are super busy, and couriers can get swamped — which can mean delays.
Delivery Options Explained
We offer a few different delivery choices so you can pick what best suits your needs —
Standard Delivery (Australia-Wide)
- A flat rate of $14.95 applies if your order is under $150.
- Spend over $150 and Standard Delivery is on us!
- Your order usually leaves our warehouse within 1–2 business days and is estimated to arrive the next business day to most areas.
- Delivery times are estimates — couriers sometimes deliver early or a little late, depending on traffic and demand.
Top Tip — If your gift can be sent ahead of Valentine’s Day (but still close enough to feel special), Standard is a great choice.
Express Delivery
If you’re running tight on time —
- Express Delivery ($17.95) bumps your order up for same-day dispatch when you order before 4 pm AEST on a business day.
- That means your order will go out faster — giving the best chance of reaching destinations on time.
- Just remember — once it’s out with the courier, estimated delivery dates still apply.
Same Day Delivery (Melbourne Metro Only)
- For Melbourne metro addresses, we offer Same Day Delivery at $19.95 if ordered before 10 am AEST Monday–Friday.
- This is perfect for last-minute panics or spontaneous romance, but does have that morning cut-off.
Scheduling at Checkout
At checkout, you can select a delivery date — this is super helpful if you’re planning ahead and want your gift to land just right. Keep in mind that this date is an estimate provided by the courier, so we recommend giving yourself a bit of buffer just in case of a small delay.
Make Sure Someone’s There
Deliveries to businesses usually arrive by around 5 pm, and to homes by 7 pm — but don’t stress over an exact minute. Couriers tend to work within a block of time, not a specific minute.
If no one’s home, couriers may leave the parcel in a safe spot — but only if it’s suitable. If they can’t safely leave it, the parcel might go to a local depot for pick-up, and this can stretch out delivery time.
Double-Check the Address
This one is important — make sure the delivery address is complete and correct — including business names, unit numbers, and any special entry details. A missing detail can mean delays (or extra redirect fees).
A Few Extra Tips
Peak times take longer — Valentine’s Day is big for gifting, so couriers get busier. Lock in your order early to avoid the rush.
Tracking info is helpful — Once your gift is dispatched, we’ll send tracking details. Keep an eye on this to see where everything’s up to.
Contact us with questions — If you’re unsure about delivery timing or cut-offs, our friendly steam is here to help.
We’re all about making gifting easy and fun, especially for big days like Valentine’s. If you follow these tips and pick the delivery option that suits your timeline best, you’ll be giving yourself (and your special someone) one less thing to worry about on the big day!
Happy gifting from all of us at Tastebuds!
